Some notes on the Anacortes Community —Anacortes is on Fidalgo Island, the southernmost of over 200 islands (some very small!) making up the San Juans. Anacortes serves as the ferry terminal for all the San Juans as well as spectacular Victoria BC. Driving west on Highway 20 to Anacortes from Burlington, you travel through some of the most productive farm ground in the country; particularly famous for its huge commercial fields of tulips and daffodils. In early April, the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival enchants thousands of flower lovers with an awesome display of color.
Fidalgo Island is a quilter’s paradise! The Fidalgo Island Quilter’s guild has over 250 area members!
Daytime (1pm) and Evening (7pm) sub-groups meet the first Monday of the month at the United Methodist Church (21st and H streets). There’s always a lot going on. Stop by The Quilt Shop and learn exactly what’s happening. And if you want the latest local entertainment, dining, business, or real estate news, the Anacortes Information Center is just across the street!
